Dockside Training Volunteer Coordinator

Subcommittee Chair:   Barbara Wise     [email protected]

2024

The Subcommittee Chair will submit an article about the event to the Whisker Pole editor about a month prior to the event date. The article can easily be compiled from previous years’ submissions.

Coordinating with the Safety Chair, the Subcommittee Chair will submit the date/time/place details to the SOS Fleet Exercises editor for publication in the Whisker Pole. The event is FREE.

The SOS Fleet Exercises will show the Dockside Training Day event in March or April which is typically scheduled the same day as the Flare & Safety event.

The Dockside Training event will show the name and email address of the Coordinator to receive registrations, emailed by the deadline for signup (about a week before the event.)

The Subcommittee Chair will work closely with the Coordinator.

The Coordinator will receive the emails of registrations for both crew (students) as well as participating skippers in advance of the deadline.

The coordinator then matches up potential crew to boat based on geographical info of where the crew is in relation to where the boat is located, among other data points. The coordinator contacts each skipper to “suggest” the “recommended” crew.

Once the coordinator has gotten confirmation from all of the skippers, they will let the skippers know the final results. It is up to the skipper to contact the crew and make the rest of the arrangements.

The coordination is complete.

Sound interesting?  It would be terrific to have your help!
